How to Start Rucking

Carry Weight Properly

Use a pack designed to keep the plates in a safe position high on your back and close to your body. Make sure the weight it secured tightly and does not move around.

Start Walking

Keep an upright posture as you walk with relaxed shoulders. The weight of the pack will naturally roll your shoulders back into proper position. Keep your core engaged as you walk or hike.

Slowly Increase Weight and Distance

Start with 10 to 20 pounds a few times per week. As you develop more strength add weight and go for longer distances. Take the time to stretch and work mobility afterwards. Have fun and stay wild!

Product Exceeded Expectations

I just received my ruck sack the other day and couldn't be happier with it. It is extremely durable and one of the most comfortable pieces of fitness gear I have ever gotten. The 30lb weight I ordered with it fits well into the pack and I have been using the ruck system almost every day since receiving it.

Although the product is impeccable, I have to knock a star off for customer service. I received inaccurate shipping details from the team and it took almost a week of using both their web form and the provided support email to finally get a hold of anyone for a single response message.

WORTH THE INVESTMENT

I use rucking to help train for backpacking and hike our local trails 4-5 days a week. When I started putting weight into my “normal” backpacks, they began to fall apart and I was going to great lengths to get the weight in the backpack high enough so it wasn’t drooping and making it feel heavier. I was also starting to get significant headaches due to the tugging on my neck and shoulders. I finally broke down and made the investment into my Wild Gym rucksack. Before I made my purchase, I knew I needed the hip belt and I liked how there is the middle and top fastening to hold it tightly to your body. When I received the rucksack I immediately took it out for a test run and was beyond impressed. A 20lb weight felt like nothing. It felt so much lighter because it was up high and pushed against my back. The pack was hugged against my body and felt secure. There was tons of padding, but I have to say my favorite features were the water bottle and phone pockets on my shoulder straps. I’m not a fan of a camel system for water and I love how accessible my water bottle is now. Overall, I am extremely impressed with the Wild Gym rucksack and am so pleased I made the investment. It allows me to train for my backpacking trips, be strong, and do so without injury.
