I used to move all day long. For my job, I would hike 5-10 miles in the mountains while also doing trail work, rebuilding trashed campsites, and occasionally I would help a lost hiker find their way. In addition to my work day, I also included dedicated training time (think workout) on top of all this daily movement. How was this possible? I believe that the human-animal thrives when placed in an environment where they can move all day long in a myriad of different patterns, over uneven terrain, and in constantly varied weather. Contrast this situation to the typical day of a middle-class working adult. They drive to work, sit most of the day, and if they are lucky, get to the gym for 30-60 minutes of exercise. I'm a firm believer that something is better than nothing from a training perspective. However, as I dive deeper into training for optimal health (and wildness) I'm starting to believe that a solid foundation is built by integrating as much movement as possible into your life. The past few weeks I have been at my computer A LOT and have been breaking up the days with plenty of monkii-ing, walks, runs, and pseudo-yoga sessions. I have been using one monkii combo that I have particularly enjoyed so I thought I would share it with my monkii family. It only takes 2-3 minutes to go through the exercises and it definitely get the juices flowing from head to toe.
